Known as our "Winged Warriors" the Modified class is the fastest at Woodford Glen.

Normally powered by V8 engines, around 400 cubic inches running on avgas or methanol, they can often produce over 500 horsepower.

With that sort of power in a chassis as light as 850kg and a huge roof mounted wing forcing traction to the rear tyres, which measure over half a meter wide, it is not uncommon to see "wheel standing" from this class.

Also being an "open wheel" form of racing it can make for exciting times when cars start rubbing wheels.

Modifieds ... definately not for the faint hearted !
